Abstract

This study investigates the psychological benefits of salah (prayer) and dhikr (remembrance of Allah) in promoting stress reduction and emotional regulation. Salah, performed regularly by Muslims, establishes mindfulness, discipline, and a sense of spiritual connection, while dhikr provides cognitive focus and emotional calm through the repetition of sacred words. Drawing on Islamic teachings and contemporary psychological research, the paper highlights how these practices lower anxiety levels, enhance emotional stability, and strengthen resilience against life stressors. Neuropsychological findings further suggest that prayer and dhikr activate relaxation responses and positive neural pathways associated with peace and contentment. By integrating Islamic spirituality with modern psychological perspectives, the study demonstrates that salah and dhikr are not only religious obligations but also therapeutic practices that contribute to holistic mental well-being.
