Abstract

This paper explores Islamic counseling approaches as a framework that integrates traditional Islamic teachings with contemporary mental health practices. Rooted in the Qur’an, Sunnah, and classical scholarship, Islamic counseling emphasizes holistic well-being by addressing the spiritual, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions of human life. The study highlights key principles such as tawakkul (trust in Allah), shura (consultation), sabr (patience), and shukr (gratitude) as therapeutic tools that align with modern counseling techniques like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and person-centered counseling. By analyzing case studies and reviewing existing literature, the paper demonstrates how Islamic counseling offers culturally relevant, faith-sensitive support to Muslim clients, fostering resilience, identity coherence, and psychological healing. The integration of traditional wisdom with modern therapeutic models ensures that mental health services remain both effective and aligned with clients’ spiritual values.
